Elizabeth Shanahan

Mixed Media
Studio L3-1

Elizabeth Shanahan creates mixed media paintings that reveal a deep sense of love and belonging through abstracted representations of traditional content, including landscape, still life, and figure. A sufferer of hypermobile Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome, Shanahan required more rest than others as a child to keep her pain levels manageable. This led to many long afternoons spent in nearly complete stillness in the woods around her home, quietly observing. She credits these sessions of “seeing” for the development of her core belief system: that every small happening causes deep and irrevocable changes that, over time, transform the world over and over again.
