The Vault - Amar Stewart.
A collection of archived works | 2014-2025.
Amar Stewart is opening the vault showcasing works dating back to 2014.
Stewart pulls inspiration from all forms of creativity such as music, film and fashion.
Stewart moved to Brooklyn, NY from London where he focused on his passion of Hip-Hop culture, portraying icons as Royalty. These works were born out of his weekly visits to The Met where he discovered the works of Rembrandt, Frans Hals, De Goya and other greats.
Years later these paintings would catch the attention of Queens, NY Hi-Hop artist Cormega who has had features on his records such as Nas, Action Bronson, Ghostface (Wu-Tang), AZ, Large Professor. They would release a limited merch drop every month based on Amar’s original portraits of Mega.
In 2019 Amar would switch gears working on scenes from classic horror movies which has amassed over 150 paintings, some as small as 2”x4”.
During covid Stewart was invited to join a group of artists on the first season of BBC ONE’s Extraordinary Portraits. He was tasked to paint a portrait of Karenjeet Kaur Bains, UK female weightlifting champ.
In 2025 flowers + faces was born, a new concept brand that highlights the connection between people and nature, inspired by Amar’s 6 years here in Asheville and his background in streetwear culture.
You will be able to view a select few pieces from each of these timelines including visuals from a mini documentary recognizing 20 years of painting.
